Borussia Dortmund considering Donyell Malen as potential Jadon Sancho replacement

PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen is reportedly at the top of Borussia Dortmund’s list of possible replacements should Jadon Sancho leave next summer.
Jadon Sancho was heavily linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window, but a prospective move to Manchester United never materialised. The 20 year old will no doubt dominate headlines next summer as well, with some of Europe’s biggest clubs set to vie for his signature.
SportBILD say that Borussia Dortmund would like to keep Sancho at the club for the long-term. And they will only consider a sale next summer if a club offers more than 100 million euros for the highly rated forward. But the magazine adds that those in charge at the club are scouting for potential replacements in case he does leave. And the name at the top of their list is Donyell Malen.
The Netherlands international, who plays with former Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Mario Götze at PSV Eindhoven, has 12 goals and three assists in 18 appearances so far this season. Götze is a big fan of Malen, telling SportBILD, “Donyell is extremely fast and dangerous in front of goal. If he gets a chance, he usually scores. He is still young, but has lots of potential.”
Malen is primarily a centre-forward, but is just as comfortable playing out wide and as a secondary striker.
Malen joined PSV Eindhoven from Arsenal in 2017 and has four years remaining on his contract. The 21 year old is represented by Mino Raiola, who is also the agent of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. The BVB bosses share a good relationship with Raiola, and that could prove to be helpful should they pursue a deal for Malen.
