The two sides last faced off in March 2019, when Borussia Dortmund survived a scare to beat Stuttgart 3-1.
Borussia Dortmund took the lead through Marco Reus’ penalty in the 62nd minute. But Stuttgart equalised just ten minutes later through Marc Oliver Kempf, who got on the end of Gonzalo Castro’s free-kick, before heading the ball past Roman Bürki.
With six minutes to go and Borussia Dortmund desperately needing a goal, Paco Alcacer stepped up and smashed the ball into the top corner to make it 2-1. Christian Pulisic then sealed a hard-fought win in stoppage time.

Borussia Dortmund have won ten of their last 12 games against Stuttgart, with their only defeat in this period coming in 2017. But with the form Stuttgart are in, Borussia Dortmund cannot afford to take them lightly this weekend.
