Rumour: Borussia Dortmund want Marco Rose to take over as head coach next season
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund reportedly want Marco Rose to take over from Lucien Favre as the permanent head coach next season.
Lucien Favre has been sacked as Borussia Dortmund head coach following Saturday’s 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart. Assistant coach Edin Terzic is taking over as the caretaker manager until the end of the season. But the BVB bosses want Marco Rose to become the new permanent head coach from next season.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the former RB Salzburg trainer is Borussia Dortmund’s preferred candidate to take over from Favre. The report adds that there may already be an agreement in place for him to join the Black and Yellows before the start of next season.
Marco Rose is currently the head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach. He took charge of the Foals in 2019 and led them to a top four finish in his first season with the club. The 44 year old has continued his exemplary work this season as well, helping Gladbach qualify for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 for the first time in 43 years.
It remains to be seen if there is any truth to this rumour. But this is not the first time Rose has been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund. Rose is considered to be one of the most highly rated coaches in Europe, and his teams are known for their attack-minded, aggressive style of football.
RB Salzburg’s Jesse Marsch and RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann have also been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund in the past.
