Bayern Munich held by spirited Union Berlin

Bayern Munich could only manage a draw for the second weekend running, as they were held by a resilient Union Berlin side. The capital club took the lead early on through Grischa Prömel’s header. But Robert Lewandowski equalised in the second half to ensure a share of the points.

The 1-1 draw helped Union Berlin continue their excellent start to the season. Urs Fischer’s side are sixth in the Bundesliga standings, just two points behind Borussia Dortmund. While Bayern slipped to second place, and are now a point behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

RB Leipzig go level on points with Bayern

Leipzig took advantage of Bayern’s draw by defeating Werder Bremen 2-0 at home. Marcel Sabitzer struck home the opener from the spot, before Dani Olmo sealed the win on the stroke of half-time. Die Roten Bullen cruised to victory in the end to continue their impressive run of form in both the Bundesliga and in Europe.
