Bayer Leverkusen go top

Bayer Leverkusen cruised to a 4-1 win over TSG Hoffenheim to go top of the Bundesliga standings. Leon Bailey’s first half brace gave Peter Bosz’ side a two goal lead going into the break. Christoph Baumgartner pulled one back for Hoffenheim, but Florian Wirtz restored Leverkusen’s two goal lead soon after.

Hoffenheim had two players sent off in the second half, before Lucas Alario added the icing on the cake by scoring a penalty in the 91st minute.

Schalke denied first win of the season

Schalke 04 were moments away from ending their winless run in the Bundesliga. But a 93rd minute equaliser from Marco Richter helped Augsburg earn a 2-2 draw in a thrilling contest.

Augsburg had earlier taken the lead through a Suat Serdar own goal, but Schalke turned the game around after Florian Niederlechner was sent off, with goals from Benito Raman and Nassim Boujellab. But Augsburg found an equaliser late on to rescue a point.
