Borussia Dortmund want Marco Rose to become their next permanent head coach, and talks have already been held between the two parties.
Borussia Dortmund parted ways with Lucien Favre on Sunday following their 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart. The Black and Yellows announced that Edin Terzic would be taking charge as caretaker coach until the end of the season. And they want Borussia Mönchengladbach trainer Marco Rose as their next permanent head coach, multiple reports in Germany say.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten (subscription required), Borussia Dortmund made contact with Marco Rose some time ago, and talks between the two parties and already reached ‘very far’ before Favre was sacked. The newspaper adds that Gladbach are aware of Dortmund’s interest in their head coach, and they have already begun their search for a possible successor to the 44 year old. RN have ruled out a possible swoop for RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann.
BILD claim that Rose has a release clause in his contract, making him the hottest candidate to become the next permanent head coach at Borussia Dortmund. While Kicker say that Rose is the clear favourite to take over at the Westfalenstadion next summer. The former RB Salzburg head coach has two years remaining on his Borussia Mönchengladbach contract.
It is easy to see why Borussia Dortmund are interested in bringing Marco Rose to the club. The former Mainz defender is rated very highly across Europe. And he recently led Borussia Mönchengladbach to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 in a group that also contained Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk.
