Edin Terzic happy, relieved and tired after win in first game as Borussia Dortmund head coach

Edin Terzic was pleased with the courage and fight Borussia Dortmund showed in their 2-1 win over Werder Bremen on Tuesday.
Edin Terzic got his coaching career off to a winning start, as goals from Raphael Guerreiro and Marco Reus helped Borussia Dortmund earn a hard-fought 2-1 win over Werder Bremen on Tuesday.
Terzic was relieved to guide the Black and Yellows back to winning ways after the heavy defeat to Stuttgart. The sacking of Lucien Favre and the subsequent appointment of Edin Terzic only came on Sunday, leaving the newly-appointed head coach with hardly any time to prepare his players for the game against Werder Bremen.
But his instructions were already evident in the style of play, as Dortmund pressed higher up the pitch, played with more intensity and passed the ball forward at a quicker pace. Speaking to Sky after Borussia Dortmund’s win over Werder Bremen, Terzic said:
"“I’m really proud of the fact that we gave everything from start to finish and covered every meter we had to cover. In terms of the performance, of course, it wasn’t exactly what we had in mind. We did quite well in phases, but what’s more important is that we showed a reaction as a team. If we all keep reminding ourselves to be courageous and to believe in ourselves, then we’ll be very successful.”“I am happy, relieved and tired. I don’t think I’m alone in that respect and I imagine a few people will sleep on the bus back to Dortmund.”"
Terzic also reserved special praise for Youssoufa Moukoko, who made his first start for the senior team on Tuesday. Moukoko wasn’t able to find the net on his full debut, but put in a very encouraging shift for the team. And Terzic was pleased with the 16 year old’s hard work on the pitch.
"“Youssoufa did a great job for the team and played an important role. It wasn’t about him scoring the winning goal. It was about him working for the team. That’s what he did, and at 16 years old – huge compliments to him."
Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus said that the team had an obligation to win on Tuesday after the defeat to Stuttgart, which led to the dismissal of Lucien Favre.
"“When there’s a change of coach, the team also knows that they’ve failed and that’s why we had an obligation to win. The most important thing is that you win games like this, and hopefully we have now put ourselves on the right track.”"
Terzic will now be aiming to make it two wins in two, as Borussia Dortmund take on Union Berlin on Friday in what will be their final Bundesliga game of 2020.
