Erling Haaland has recovered from his injury and he is now looking forward to returning to action for Borussia Dortmund.

Erling Haaland suffered a torn muscle fibre in his thigh ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League game against Lazio earlier this month. He has been out of action since, and his absence has been heavily felt in the Dortmund attack. The 20 year old had been doing his rehabilitation at the Aspetar Training Centre in Doha. And after spending a week in Qatar, he is now looking ahead to his return to action.

"Haaland said in a statement, “I have recovered from my injury and look forward to be playing matches again soon. The facilities and the clinic staff that I met at Aspetar were excellent.”"

Haaland was also asked about rumours linking him with a move away from Borussia Dortmund when he received the 2020 Golden Boy award earlier this week. But the striker said that he is happy in Dortmund, and thanked Lucien Favre, who was sacked on Sunday.

"“I’m happy at Borussia Dortmund. I’ve spent a great year with Favre and I want to thank him. The Ballon d’Or is my dream, as is the Champions League – but I’m happy with the Golden Boy,” Haaland told Tuttosport."

Borussia Dortmund have struggled to score goals in Haaland’s absence. The striker has been directly involved in 20 of the Black and Yellows’ 44 goals so far this season, with 17 goals and three assists to his name. No other player has reached the five goal mark yet. Marco Reus and Gio Reyna are tied for second place in the scoring charts, having scored four goals each.

Having Haaland back will be a big boost for Borussia Dortmund ahead of what promises to be a busy second half of the season. With a much shorter winter break this season, Edin Terzic’s side will play six games in the Bundesliga in January. And the hope will be that Haaland can return to the side for the game against Wolfsburg on January 03.
