Borussia Dortmund make the trip to sixth placed Union Berlin on Friday for their final Bundesliga game of 2020.

Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a return to winning ways on Tuesday, as they beat Werder Bremen 2-1. It was a much improved performance from the ones we saw in the final few games of the Lucien Favre era. With two games to go before the Christmas break, they will now be aiming to pick up two more wins. On Friday, they return to the scene of one of their worst results from last season.

Union Berlin are having a stellar season by their own standards, currently sitting in 6th place and only four points behind Borussia Dortmund. The capital club’s most impressive recent performance so far has been arguably their 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich last weekend, where they actually deserved to get more out of the game. Union Berlin are more than capable of pulling off upsets, and Borussia Dortmund cannot afford to have an off day against them.

Borussia Dortmund are finally back in the win column after a string of poor performances that led to Lucien Favre being sacked. While the result was only a narrow 2-1 win, there were some noticeable improvements in their approach play. The changes made by Edin Terzic were clearly visible on Tuesday, and he will no doubt be aiming to build on that performance in the coming weeks and months.
