Schalke beaten yet again
Schalke’s miserable 2020 continued on Saturday as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to fellow relegation contenders Arminia Bielefeld. The Royal Blues had sacked coach Manuel Baum just before the game. But interim coach Huub Stevens wasn’t able to turn things around, as Fabian Klos’ second-half header guided Arminia to a vital win.
Schalke 04 have now failed to win any of their last 29 matches in the Bundesliga.
Late winner helps Werder Bremen end nine game winless run
19 year old Eren Dinkci scored a 90th minute winner on his Bundesliga debut to give Werder Bremen a 1-0 win over Mainz 05. In what was a game of few chances, Dinkci came off the bench to score with his first touch and give his side a priceless win.
The win lifted Werder Bremen up to 12th place in the league table, while Mainz are still second-bottom with six points to their name.
Second half goals help Eintracht Frankfurt beat Augsburg
Eintracht Frankfurt enjoyed a 2-0 win away to Augsburg, courtesy of an own-goal from Raphael Framberger and a late strike from Stefan Ilsanker. The Eagles took the lead in the 53rd minute when the ball bounced off Framberger and found its way into the back of the net. Stefan Ilsanker then sealed the three points in the 87th minute after getting on the end of a low cross.
