Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke has taken a swipe at Mehmet Scholl after his criticism Edin Terzic, while Erling Haaland has won Norway’s Player of the Year award.

Erling Haaland named Norwegian Footballer of the Year

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland has won the 2020 Golden Ball, the award given to Norway’s best footballer of the year. The award caps off what has been an incredible 2020 for the 20 year old. He has scored 39 goals in just 37 appearances for club and country this year.

Haaland beat out competition from AC Milan winger Jens Petter Hauge and RB Leipzig striker Alexander Sørloth to win the award. It is the second award Haaland has won this month, having previously won the 2020 Golden Boy award.

"“It is a great honour and something I really appreciate. I’m very proud and it shows that I’m doing something right,” Haaland said while accepting the award."

Haaland is currently out of action with a torn muscle fibre, but he should be back in action when the Bundesliga returns in January.

Hans Joachim Watzke hits back after criticism of Edin Terzic

Former Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Mehmet Scholl had criticised Edin Terzic after Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 defeat to Union Berlin on Friday. The 50 year old was critical of Terzic’s post-game interview, and said that his analysis of the performance was not tangible. But now Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans Joachim Watzke has hit back at the former Bayern Munich II trainer who hasn’t managed a club since 2013.

"Speaking to BILD, Watzke said about Scholl: “If Mehmet Scholl obviously thinks that he is the best analyst, the question I have is why no club has ever seen that.”"
