Goals from Jadon Sancho and Mats Hummels helped Borussia Dortmund see off the challenge of Eintracht Braunschweig in the second round of the DFB Pokal.

Looking to end the year with a win, Borussia Dortmund took an early lead through Mats Hummels, who swept home the opener after Jadon Sancho’s free-kick. The Englishman then sealed the had-fought win in the 92nd minute, as the Black and Yellows qualified for the DFB Pokal round of 16.

The win was anything but straight-forward, although it would have been had Borussia Dortmund taken their chances.

Eintracht Braunschweig certainly made things tricky for Dortmund, but in the end the away side got the job done without too much trouble. Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from the 2-0 win.

Marwin Hitz (6/10)

Hitz returned to the starting XI in place of Roman Bürki. He was only called into action a couple of times, but looked confident and kept Borussia Dortmund’s first clean-sheet in eight games in all competitions.
