Jadon Sancho (7/10)

Sancho’s tricks and flicks caused opposition defenders all sorts of problems even though his decision making was off at times, especially in the first half. He was involved in both goals though, and made an impressive six key passes.

The Englishman played in a dangerous cross before Hummels’ opener, and then showed good composure to score the goal that sealed the win in stoppage time. He also created a fine chance for Jude Bellingham in the second half.

Julian Brandt (4.5/10)

Brandt showed promise and got into some really good positions. But his final touch/pass/shot let him down more often than not. With a bit of confidence on his side, he could have easily ended the game with at least one goal. But his struggles in front of goal continued, before he was replaced by Marco Reus.

Gio Reyna (5/10)

Reyna struggled to get involved in the game, and the Braunschweig defenders had the measure of him for the majority of the time he spent on the pitch. He had some promising moments, but they were few and far between.

Steffen Tigges (6.5/10)

Tigges showed great promise on his senior debut for Borussia Dortmund. He was always on the move and held the ball up really well. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a goal. He had his chances, but couldn’t make them count.

But still, he put in quite a shift. And if he continues to play like he did against Braunschweig, he may well be an option for the second half of the season.
