Thorgan Hazard’s return from injury lasted less than ten minutes, as he suffered another muscle injury during Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig.

Thorgan Hazard made his return from injury as he came on as an 83rd minute substitute for Borussia Dortmund during their 2-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig in the second round of the DFB Pokal. But not long after getting on the pitch, the Belgian international felt something in his thigh and was forced to go off after Jadon Sancho sealed the win.

Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic confirmed after the game that Hazard has suffered another muscle injury. The injury is set to keep him out for several weeks, the club have now confirmed.

Hazard had earlier missed three games after suffering a muscle strain on his thigh during Borussia Dortmund’s win over Zenit St. Petersburg earlier this month. He made his return to training on Monday, and was included in the squad for the clash against Eintracht Braunschweig.

Hazard has already missed eight games with muscle injuries in what has been a frustrating season for him so far. He has impressed whenever he has played this season, but injuries have limited him to just 12 appearances in all competitions so far.

Terzic also revealed that Mats Hummels’ substitution at half-time was an enforced change. “Ten games in 31 days will not leave us without a mark. Mats just had muscular problems again. Then he was out, Manuel Akanji came in – and on we went.”
