DFB Pokal: The teams Borussia Dortmund could face in the round of 16

Borussia Dortmund will find out their opponents for the DFB Pokal round of 16 on Sunday, with the draw set to take place in Köln.

Fourteen teams have already booked their place into the third round of the DFB Pokal ahead of Sunday’s draw. Two more games are scheduled to take place in the second week of January, when Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen will have the chance to qualify for the round of 16. Out of the 14 teams that have qualified so far, eight are from the Bundesliga, five are from the 2. Bundesliga and one is from the Regionalliga West.

Borussia Dortmund will view the DFB Pokal as a competition they have a good chance of winning this season. The Black and Yellows have been eliminated by Werder Bremen in the third round of the DFB Pokal in each of the last two seasons. So if there’s one team they will be hoping to avoid this time around, it is Florian Kohfeldt’s side.

Here are the teams that will be in the draw for the third round of the DFB Pokal.

Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Borussia Mönchengladbach, VfL Wolfsburg, 1. FC Köln, VfB Stuttgart, Schalke 04, Werder Bremen

2. Bundesliga: SpVgg Greuther Fürth, SC Paderborn, Darmstadt 98, VfL Bochum, Jahn Regensburg

Regionalliga West: RW Essen

Second round fixtures still to be played: Bayer Leverkusen vs Eintracht Frankfurt, Holstein Kiel vs Bayern Munich

The DFB Pokal third round fixtures will be played on February 02 and 03, 2021. The final is set to take place at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on May 13, 2021.
