Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a very eventful 2020, with lots of ups and downs. We take a look at some of the most memorable matches from what was an year like no other.
Erling Haaland sparks incredible comeback on Borussia Dortmund debut
We start with Borussia Dortmund’s first game of 2020, which saw Erling Haaland come off the bench for his debut. And the 20 year old made an immediate impact as he sparked a comeback which will no doubt be remembered by Dortmund supporters for years to come.
Playing away to Augsburg in the first game following the winter break, Borussia Dortmund fell behind in the first half, before Marco Richter made it 2-0 for the hosts in the 46th minute. Julian Brandt pulled a goal back soon after, but Florian Niederlechner scored his second to restore Augsburg’s two goal lead.
Lucien Favre then decided to bring on Erling Haaland for his first Borussia Dortmund appearance, and the rest is history.
Haaland scored within three minutes after coming on, before Jadon Sancho equalised at the hour mark. The Norwegian international then doubled his tally in the 70th minute, before completing his hat-trick on debut to seal an incredible 5-3 win for Borussia Dortmund.
