Borussia Dortmund host Wolfsburg on Sunday in their first game of 2021. The game is a must-win for BVB with Wolfsburg sitting two points ahead in the standings.

Borussia Dortmund ended 2020 with a 2-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig in the DFB Pokal to wrap up a rather underwhelming year. In a year that Dortmund were expected to challenge for titles, they fell short in the Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund have struggled recently at home, losing each of their last three home Bundesliga games. Historically, Dortmund’s biggest strength has been their impenetrability at home but that’s currently not the case. Their home form and confidence is something that needs to return in 2021 if they are going to get back into the Champions League positions.

Borussia Dortmund will get their star man Erling Haaland back from injury to start the new year which is a game changing boost for the squad. Dortmund are nowhere near the same team without Haaland in the lineup and it’s not a coincidence that they started struggling when he went out injured. The only players currently expected to miss the game are Thorgan Hazard, Youssoufa Moukoko and Marcel Schmelzer, who are all out injured.

Here is a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up against Wolfsburg.

Goalkeeper: Roman Bürki

Roman Bürki will remain Borussia Dortmund’s number one keeper unless there are some drastic changes, so we expect to see him in goal once again on Sunday. With a string of tough games coming up Dortmund will need Bürki to bring his best game or else they may find themselves falling even further behind.
