New Year, Same Schalke

Schalke made it 30 games without a win in the Bundesliga, as they suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Hertha Berlin. Newly appointed head coach Christian Groß could not spur his team on, as goals from Mateo Guendouzi, Jhon Cordoba and Krzysztof Piatek sealed a comfortable win for the Berliners.

Dani Olmo nets the winner as Leipzig keep pace with Bayern

Dani Olmo’s second half strike was enough to help RB Leipzig earn a narrow win away to VfB Stuttgart. Despite the attacking talent on display, it was the goalkeepers who stole the show. Both Gregor Kobel and Peter Gulacsi produced some stunning saves to ensure that this was a low scoring affair.

Bayer Leverkusen beaten by inspired Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt came from behind to earn a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. Nadiem Amiri scored a goal of the season contender to give Leverkusen the lead. But the Eagles found their equaliser through Amin Younes mid-way through the first half. Edmond Tapsoba then inadvertently put the ball into his own net in the 54th minute, which proved to be the winner for Frankfurt.
