Michael Zorc reacts to rumours linking Marco Rose to Borussia Dortmund
Michael Zorc had his say on rumours linking Marco Rose with the head coach job at Borussia Dortmund ahead of the game against Wolfsburg on Sunday.
Borussia Dortmund parted ways with Lucien Favre in early December and former assistant coach Edin Terzic was given the reins until the end of the season. In four games under Terzic so far, Dortmund have won three and lost one in all competitions. But it remains to be seen who will be the Black and Yellows’ trainer come next season.
One name that has been heavily linked in recent weeks is Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Marco Rose. Rose is in his second season with Gladbach after moving from RB Salzburg in 2019. He was linked with the Dortmund job even before he moved to Gladbach so it is not surprising to see his name circle back around now that there’s a vacancy this summer. Michael Zorc was interviewed by Sky on Sunday but he was very tight lipped on the situation.
"“I understand that your job is to speculate and come up with provocative theses. Firstly, we have our first home game today with our new coach and our focus is to stop the downward trend at home and turn it all around,” – Michael Zorc"
Zorc went on to address the Marco Rose situation directly as well, refusing to comment out of respect for Gladbach and their contract with the 44 year old.
"“We have very important games in January, that’s our focus. In addition, my respect for Borussia Mönchengladbach and also for other clubs dictates that we don’t to say another word about Marco Rose in this case.” – Michael Zorc"
This doesn’t come as a surprise, Zorc is always very respectful of other clubs when commentating on these situations. He does the same when players are linked with Borussia Dortmund as well. Regardless, the rumors are unlikely to slow down over the coming months and Rose is definitely going to be in contention as the BVB bosses make a decision on who will be their next head coach.
