Thomas Meunier (5.5/10)

Meunier struggled at the start against the dangerous Angelino, but he got better as the game went on. The Belgian International made some promising forward runs in the second half and even set up a couple of decent half-chances with his crosses. Although he will feel that he could have done a better job of closing Angelino down before he crossed the ball in for Leipzig’s consolation goal.

Manuel Akanji (7/10)

Akanji put in another very solid shift in defence. He hardly put a foot wrong all game and made some vital defensive recoveries for his side. The Swiss centre-back was also accurate with his passing and played some intelligent forward balls.

Mats Hummels (8/10)

Hummels was an absolute beast in defence for Borussia Dortmund, especially in the first half. The 32 year old made an incredible six tackles, seven clearances and five interceptions. He made sure Roman Bürki’s goal was hardly threatened by anticipating danger and positioning himself well in advance.

Raphael Guerreiro (6/10)

Guerreiro was forced into more defensive work than usual, and he did a fairly decent job of it for large parts of the game. He had a couple of nervy moments against Dani Olmo, especially when the Leipzig man hit the post. But he recovered well after that and helped his team get the job done. He wasn’t able to venture forward as much as he would have liked, but still looked lively at times on the left wing.
