Borussia Dortmund are not looking to cut short Reinier Jesus’ loan spell at the club, despite rumours in Spain claiming that Real Madrid want to recall him.

Reinier Jesus has been limited to just eight appearances off the bench since joining Borussia Dortmund on a two year loan deal from Real Madrid in the summer. Reports in Spain claim that Real Madrid are looking to end the deal early due to the forward’s lack of playing time, and La Liga side Real Valladolid are keen on signing him on loan this month.

Michael Zorc has said that Borussia Dortmund do not want to part ways with Reiner just yet, but they will hold talks if the 18 year old is not satisfied due to his lack of opportunities.

"“We have a lot of competition in the attacking positions,” Zorc told Sport1. “In principle, we don’t want to give him up. But of course, I will listen to everything. If someone is dissatisfied because he has too few opportunities, then we’ll talk to each other, but we will not take the initiative ourselves.”"

Reinier has had to endure a difficult time since moving to Germany. He struggled for fitness early on after missing the majority of pre-season, before testing positive for COVID-19 in November. He has been on the pitch for a total of just 136 minutes so far this season, with his last appearance coming in the 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart in December.

The high competition for places in attack hasn’t helped his cause, with the Brazilian youngster having to compete with the likes of Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus, Thorgan Hazard, Youssoufa Moukoko and Gio Reyna for his spot.
