Borussia Dortmund are set to sign highly rated AFC Ajax striker Julian Rijkhoff on a three-year deal, reports in the Netherlands say.
According to De Telegraaf, Borussia Dortmund will complete the signing of Julian Rijkhoff from AFC Ajax when he turns 16 on January 25. The highly rated striker will sign a three year deal with Borussia Dortmund. The Black and Yellows will reportedly pay Ajax a training compensation of 130,000 euros for his signature.
Julian Rijkhoff is considered to be one of the best young talents in the famed Ajax academy, and has been tipped for a very bright future. He has been in excellent form for the Ajax U-17s this season, having scored nine goals in just four appearances in the Dutch U-17s Youth League. He has also been capped by the Netherlands at the U-15s level, and has ten goals and two assists to his name in just eight appearances.
De Telegraaf add that Rijkhoff was in negotiations over a contract extension with Ajax, but their offer did not appeal to him. And the Dutch giants did not make a follow up offer, allowing Borussia Dortmund to swoop in and complete his signature.
Rijkhoff will join a Borussia Dortmund youth set-up which already has some of Europe’s most talented youngsters, including Nnamdi Collins, Dennis Lütke-Frie, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Lion Semic and many more. It remains to be seen whether he will initially play for the U-17s or the U-19s, but Rijkhoff is no doubt a player to keep an eye out for in the coming years.
