Borussia Dortmund are said to be interested in signing Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus. According to Sport1, the Black and Yellows would like to sign the highly rated midfielder in the summer. Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid are also keen on Neuhaus, who reportedly has a release clause of 40 million euros in his contract which kicks in next summer.

Sport1 add that the release clause could prove to be a bit of a stumbling block for Borussia Dortmund. But with the BVB bosses planning to have a major upheaval in the summer, they could look to sign Neuhaus in the summer along with Marco Rose. The Gladbach head coach is Dortmund’s ideal candidate to take over next season, and talks have already taken place between the two parties.

Borussia Dortmund would have to break transfer record to sign Florian Neuhaus

Mats Hummels is currently Borussia Dortmund’s most expensive player, having joined from Bayern Munich for 30.5 million euros in 2019. It remains to be seen if Dortmund would be willing to break their club transfer record in a period of financial uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Neuhaus is considered to be one of the best young midfielders in Germany. The 23 year old has five gals and six assists in 25 appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach this season. And it is easy to see why he is a transfer target of some of Europe’s biggest clubs. He still has three and a half years remaining on his current contract with Gladbach.

Sport1 add that joining Borussia Dortmund could be an exciting project for Neuhaus, but he is not in any hurry to make a decision on his future.
