Mahmoud Dahoud was dropped from the Borussia Dortmund squad for the games against RB Leipzig and Mainz earlier this month. Ruhr Nachrichten have now revealed that the reason for the midfielder’s absence was a training ground dispute with Edin Terzic which occurred in early January.

Dahoud reportedly showed a lack of respect to the Borussia Dortmund head coach as a result of frustrations stemming from a lack of playing time. He also showed a lack of effort in training, but has since apologised and promised to improve. The matter is now considered to be resolved by Edin Terzic and the club.

Dahoud has been on the bench for each of the last two games though. And Edin Terzic said ahead of the game against Bayer Leverkusen that the 25 year old is working hard in training.

Three clubs have shown interest in signing Mahmoud Dahoud from Borussia Dortmund

Ruhr Nachrichten also add that Borussia Dortmund have received informal inquiries from Serie A side US Sassuolo and French clubs Olympique Marseille and AS Monaco for the signature of Dahoud. Monaco are said to have shown the most interest, but even their interest is current not seen as serious by BVB.

Borussia Dortmund do not necessarily want to sell Dahoud this month. With the European championships coming up at the end of the season, the midfielder would no doubt like to be playing more often to have any chance of making the Germany squad. But with Axel Witsel out for the rest of the season, selling Dahoud this month could leave Dortmund short in midfield ahead of the upcoming English weeks.
