Thorgan Hazard not expected to return to action till February
Thorgan Hazard is still missing from team training this week as he recovers after re-aggravating his muscle injury last month. The Belgian international has had to endue a tough second year at Borussia Dortmund battling injuries nearly the entire season thus far. Through the first 18 games Hazard has only been able to make five Bundesliga appearances and it has had a devastating impact on the Dortmund squad.
Ruhr Nachrichten report that Hazard will be back in team training in the first of second week of February after working on his individual recovery. With Borussia Dortmund due to face Sevilla in the first round of their Champions League round of 16 clash on February 18, Edin Terzic will be hoping to have Hazard available to the team by then.
Thorgan Hazard still remains very important for Borussia Dortmund
Hazard is incredibly important to the Borussia Dortmund attack. He offers something not many do, which is a clear directness to goal. He pushes back opponents defences by making runs in behind and stretching them further apart by staying wide. This has been sorely missing this year for Dortmund as they are having a difficult season.
Despite being limited to a bit part role due to injuries, Hazard still has three goals and three assists to his name across all competitions this season.
Dortmund will be anxiously waiting for Hazard’s return as he will add another dimension to the Dortmund attack. He was rushed a bit too quickly after his return from injury in December, but let’s hope he doesn’t have to deal with any more injury troubles this season.
