Augsburg earned a 2-0 win when the two sides met back in September, courtesy of goals from Felix Uduokhai and Daniel Caligiuri either side of half time. It was a flat performance by Borussia Dortmund, who were made to pay for repeating the same mistakes that have haunted them so often in the past.
The first goal came through a (surprise, surprise) set-piece, as Uduokhai got on the end of Caligiuri’s cross and headed home past Roman Bürki. The former Schalke man then turned from provider to scorer, as he ran through on goal before coolly finishing past Bürki.
Borussia Dortmund were simply no match to Augsburg on that occasion as they were handed their first defeat of the season. Augsburg head coach Heiko Herrlich will be plotting another shock this weekend, as he goes up against his former club.
