Borussia Dortmund ended their run of three games without a win by coming from behind to register a 3-1 victory over FC Augsburg on Saturday. Goals from Thomas Delaney, Jadon Sancho and an own-goal from Felix Uduokhai gave Der BVB a vital win in the race for the Bundesliga top four.

And Michael Zorc was pleased with the way the team responded after going behind to earn a well deserved win in the second half. Speaking after the game, the Borussia Dortmund sporting director said:

"“Finally a win again! It did us good to win again today. The manner of the victory was also convincing for me, we showed a good reaction to going behind and deserved to win. The overall statistics reflect that. But this must also be the way forward for us.”"

Head coach Edin Terzic said that Borussia Dortmund’s performance against Augsburg was their best since the 3-1 win over RB Leipzig earlier this month. “Unfortunately, we didn’t start well, the early goal, the missed penalty – we’re fed up with that now, too. But then the number of goalscoring chances we had was really good. For me, today was the best performance since the game against Leipzig.”

Jadon Sancho happy to contribute again for Borussia Dortmund

Jadon Sancho, who scored his third league goal of the month to continue his impressive run of form, said that he wants to keep improving and contributing to the team’s cause.

"“I think every goal gives you a bit of confidence. From here I just have to keep on improving and keep working hard. I am just happy that I could contribute to the win and help the team. Hopefully I can do this every week now.”"

Manuel Akanji felt that the Black and Yellows could have been a bit more efficient in front of goal, but the win over Augsburg was a well deserved one.

"“Three goals are not too few, but we could have been even more efficient. We can be satisfied with how the game went. We kept moving the ball forward even after conceding the goal and didn’t stop after the missed penalty. In the end, we were rewarded for our performance.”"

Akanji was also pleased with the way they defended free-kicks and corners after conceding three goals from set-pieces in the 4-2 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach last week. “We defended the few set pieces against us very well. We worked on that again in trained during the week and talked about it,” Akanji said.
