Jadon Sancho and Thomas Delaney starred as Borussia Dortmund returned to winning ways with a come from behind 3-1 win over Augsburg. Dortmund fell behind early on but issued a strong response, with Delaney heading home the equaliser. Sancho then completed the comeback, before Erling Haaland forced an own goal to seal the win.

It was a very professional performance by Borussia Dortmund, who ended a run of three games without a win. Here are three things we learned from the game.

Jadon Sancho steps up again for Borussia Dortmund

A lot has been said and written about Jadon Sancho not being at his best this season. The 20 year old has struggled at times, but he has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s best performers since the turn of the year. He was at it again on Saturday against Augsburg, as he inspired his side to victory.

With Erling Haaland not at his best, Sancho needed to step up and he did just that. Not only did he score the go-ahead goal with a well taken finish, but he also caused a lot of problems to the Augsburg defence throughout the game.

He linked up superbly with Raphael Guerreiro and Marco Reus on the left flank, and never let Daniel Caligiuri have a moment’s respite. The former Schalke man defended really well against Sancho, but he still kept finding a way past him.

This was without a doubt one of Sancho’s most complete performances of the season, and a much-needed one at that for Borussia Dortmund. It sets both him and the team up perfectly ahead of what promises to be a crunch February.
