Thomas Delaney bosses the midfield battle again

Thomas Delaney quietly had another solid game in midfield, as he played an influential role in the win. The Denmark international absolutely dominated the midfield battle, winning all but one of the 15 duels he contested. He also covered the most distance on the pitch (12.1 km), won a game high six tackles and made three interceptions to help calm the shores after what was a sloppy start at the back by Borussia Dortmund.

Delaney also scored the equaliser which came at the perfect time for BVB, as it gave them the momentum boost they needed to go on and win the game in the second half. The 29 year old also played some excellent forward passes in behind the Augsburg defence and made some very intelligent forward runs to help the team out in the build-up.

Many thought that Delaney would be limited to a bit-part role this season, but he is proving everyone wrong and quickly becoming a vital player for Borussia Dortmund.
