A professional response to going behind

Borussia Dortmund started well but let that advantage slip after conceding the opening goal thanks to some careless defending in the box. But unlike we have seen so often in the past, the Dortmund heads did not go down this time. They kept their patience and composure (even after Erling Haaland’s penalty miss) to keep the pressure on the Augsburg goal.

And they were finally rewarded midway through the first half when Thomas Delaney headed home after a pinpoint free-kick from Marco Reus.

Borussia Dortmund continued to play with the same patience in the second half and never looked to rush things. There was no respite for Augsburg despite that patience, as Dortmund kept the intensity up right till Jadon Sancho made it 2-1. And they played with the right intent even after going a goal up, looking to force the initiative instead of sitting back and allowing Augsburg to attack.
