Borussia Dortmund needed extra time to beat second division side SC Paderborn in the third round of the DFB Pokal, with Erling Haaland’s 95th minute winner sealing a 3-2 win.

The Black and Yellows had earlier raced to a 2-0 lead after just 16 minutes, with Emre Can and Jadon Sancho scoring early on. Despite not being at their best, it looked like Edin Terzic’s side would earn the win and secure safe passage to the quarterfinals.

But Julian Justvan scored in the 79th minute to give Paderborn hope. Drama then ensued in the final seconds of stoppage time, as Erling Haaland thought he had made it 3-1, only for the referee to award a penalty to Paderborn for a foul before the goal. Prince Osei Owusu made it 2-2 from the spot to take the game to extra time.

Borussia Dortmund got the job done in the end, but only just. Here are our player ratings from the 3-2 win over SC Paderborn.

Marwin Hitz (5.5/10)

Hitz made a good start to the game and was even involved in the build up for the second goal. He also made a couple of good saves, but then failed to save a shot which was struck straight at him for Paderborn’s first goal. Other than the mistake for the goal (which occurred probably because he could not see the ball in front of the crowded penalty area), Hitz had a really good game.
