Borussia Dortmund want to extend the contract of Thomas Delaney, report SportBILD. The Dane has been in excellent form this season, and the BVB bosses want to tie him down for a longer period, with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

Delaney has developed into a crucial player for Borussia Dortmund this season, making the defensive midfield spot his own in the absence of the injured Axel Witsel. The 29 year old has made a total of 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season. He scored his first goal of the season in the win over FC Augsburg last weekend. And he followed that up by getting two assists against Paderborn on Tuesday.

Delaney, who joined Borussia Dortmund from Werder Bremen in 2018, faced an uncertain future at the club not too long ago. But he has done his talking on the pitch, becoming an important player and leader for the team.

Borussia Dortmund would like to keep Marwin Hitz and Felix Passlack

SportBILD claim that in addition to Thomas Delaney, Marwin Hitz and Felix Passlack could also be handed new deals. Both players will be out of contract at the end of the season, but Borussia Dortmund would like to offer them an extension.

Marwin Hitz is considering other offers as well, as he would like to get more playing time than he has received over the last three years. While Passlack’s future also remains open at the moment. Hitz has made nine appearances so far this season, while Passlack has played in 11 games.
