Raphael Guerreiro has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s most consistent players over the last 18 months. The Portuguese international’s performances have helped him cement a regular starting spot in the starting XI, and he is now undoubtedly one of the best left-backs in world football. He is enjoying life with the Black and Yellows and hopes to stay at the club for years to come. Speaking to Borussia Dortmund’s Feiertagsmagazin (H/T: Ruhr Nachrichten), Guerreiro said:

"“I’ve had a lot of great moments on the pitch so far. I enjoy the Bundesliga and that’s why I don’t want to leave right now. I’m very happy with my time here at Dortmund and hope to stay here for many more years.”"

Guerreiro, who joined Borussia Dortmund from FC Lorient in 2016, was heavily linked with a move away from the club not too long ago. Paris St. Germain and Barcelona were both rumoured to be interested in signing him. And he even came close to joining the French giants. But he eventually decided to extend his contract with Der BVB, and his performances since then have been nothing short of world-class.

Guerreiro has made a total of 23 appearances for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, scoring three goals and providing eight assists. The 27 year old wants to continue his fine run of form and make a decisive impact for the team heading into the business end of the season.

"“This season is going well for me and I hope it stays that way. I want to continue to help the team and make a decisive impact.”"

Borussia Dortmund go up against SC Freiburg on Saturday, and Guerreiro is set to return to the starting XI after being rested for the mid-week game against Paderborn. The left-back expects a difficult game in Freiburg, but knows that Dortmund must get the three points. “They are a good team, they never give up, so it will be a difficult game on Saturday, but we need the points and want to go back towards the top. So we have to win, defend well and try to score as many goals as possible.”
