Youssoufa Moukoko’s second half goal was not enough as Borussia Dortmund suffered a 2-1 defeat away to SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga. Long-range strikes from Jeong Woo-yeong and Jonathan Schmid gave the home side a 2-0 lead in the second half, and Dortmund weren’t able to pull off a comeback despite Moukoko’s goal.

It was a disappointing performance from the Black and Yellows, as the likes of Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus were unable to break the Freiburg resistance. The defeat was Borussia Dortmund’s eighth of the season in the Bundesliga, and their first to Freiburg in more than ten years.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from the game.

Marwin Hitz (3/10)

Hitz made a meal of what should have been a relatively easy grab early on, but luckily it did not cost Dortmund. He then had another moment to forget in the second half which did prove very costly. The Swiss shot stopper let Jonathan Schmid’s effort somehow find the back of the net at his near post. The ball hit the post, deflected off of Hitz and squeezed its way into the net. He will no doubt be very disappointed having been beaten by two long range shots in quick succession.
