Borussia Dortmund to face Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals
Borussia Dortmund will make the trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach for the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal. The DFB-Pokal quarterfinals draw took place on Sunday, and the Borussen Derby is no doubt the pick of the ties.
Borussia Dortmund and Gladbach are two of the favourites to win the German Cup this season, and we could be in for a fascinating contest between the two teams in the quarterfinals. The game will be played on March 2 or 3, 2021, just days before Dortmund’s trip to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach faced each other in the Bundesliga just last month, when the Foals earned a well-deserved 4-2 win. The Black and Yellows’ interest in Gladbach head coach Marco Rose will add to the many storylines ahead of what will be an eagerly anticipated tie. The two sides met in the DFB-Pokal last season as well, when BVB earned a come from behind 2-1 win, courtesy of a Julian Brandt brace.
Borussia Dortmund defeated SC Paderborn 3-2 after extra time in the third round of the DFB-Pokal, while Gladbach earned a 2-1 win over VfB Stuttgart.
Elsewhere, Fourth division side Rot-Weiss Essen, who eliminated Bayer Leverkusen in the previous round, will host Holstein Kiel in the quarterfinals. While RB Leipzig will take on the in-form Wolfsburg. And Werder Bremen will make the trip to Jahn Regensburg. The final of the DFB-Pokal is due to be held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on May 13, 2021.
