Gladbach boss 98 percent confident Marco Rose will stay despite Borussia Dortmund interest
Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has said he is 98 per cent sure that Marco Rose will stay on at the club, despite rumours heavily linking him with a move to Borussia Dortmund. The Gladbach head coach is the favourite to take over at the Westfalenstadion next season. Reports have claimed that he has a release clause of five million euros in his contract, which can be activated before the end of May.
While Marco Rose has not yet made a decision on his future, Max Eberl sees a “98 percent” chance of him staying with Gladbach. Speaking to ZDF (H/T: Ruhr Nachrichten), Eberl also confirmed that no decision has been made yet.
"“No because if he had made his decision, we would be very open about it. We did it back then when we replaced Dieter Hecking with Marco Rose, and we would do the same now. There is no decision.”"
Eberl added that if Rose does decide to leave in the summer, his departure would be handled professionally by Gladbach. “In professional football, times together are limited, that’s just the way it is. In a bad case you might have to fire a coach, in a good case, maybe a coach could take on a bigger job at some point.”
Marco Rose is Borussia Dortmund’s preferred candidate to become the next head coach
Multiple reports in Germany have stated that Marco Rose is Borussia Dortmund’s desired candidate to become the club’s next permanent head coach before the start of next season. The 44 year old trainer has made a good impression on the BVB bosses with the work he has done since joining Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2019.
Rose has so far refused to comment on whether he will stay or leave, but WAZ reported last month that he would be ‘anything but averse’ to joining Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Speculation about Marco Rose’s future has been a big talking point in German football in recent weeks. And it will remain that way until the Leipzig native finally makes his decision.
