The agent of Julian Rijkhoff is confident that signing for Borussia Dortmund is the right next step for the highly rated striker. Rijkhoff completed a move from Ajax to Borussia Dortmund earlier this month, signing a three year contract with the club. The 16 year old will initially train with the U-17s, before making the leap to the U-19s level ahead of the start of the new season.

And Dick van Burik, who is a former footballer and spent ten years playing for Hertha Berlin before becoming an agent, has now revealed why his client decided to leave Ajax for Borussia Dortmund. In an interview with BILD, van Burik said:

"“We were very impressed in our talks with Dortmund’s officials. They knew everything about him, their scouting department did a very good job. How well BVB already knew him, how they want to develop him and how convinced they are about him – all of that made a great impression on Julian and his parents.”“We are sure that the move to BVB is exactly the right step for Julian.”"

Rijkhoff is considered to be one of the best young talents in the Netherlands, and has scored nine goals in just four appearances for the Ajax U-17s in the Dutch Youth League this season. Ajax wanted to keep him at the club, but could not convince him to sign a new contract. Borussia Dortmund swooped in and signed the striker for a training compensation fee in the range of 200,000 euros.

According to BILD, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc and chief scout Markus Pilawa are both convinced that Rijkhoff has all the qualities to one day make it all the way to the professional team. Rijkhoff will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Youssoufa Moukoko and Ansgar Knauff, who have come through the Borussia Dortmund youth ranks before making it to the first-team in recent seasons.
