Borussia Dortmund may be forced to play the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Sevilla at a neutral venue, as entry restrictions could be imposed on incoming flights from Spain to Germany. The second leg of the tie is due to be played at the Signal Iduna Park on March 9, but it could be moved due to an impending travel ban.

According to Sportschau, it is likely that entry from Spain to Germany will soon only be possible in a few exceptional cases. An entry restriction is currently being ‘intensively discussed’ by the government, the report adds. However, at the moment it remains to be seen when the restrictions will come into affect.

So it is quite possible that Borussia Dortmund could have to find a new venue for the second leg of their game against Sevilla.

The first leg of the tie is not in any doubt at the moment, and it will take place at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in Andalusia on February 17.

A number of Champions League round of 16 ties have already been affected due to the COVID-19 enforced travel restrictions. The first leg of Liverpool’s clash against RB Leipzig will be played in Budapest, Hungary. Borussia Mönchengladbach will also play the first leg of their tie against Manchester City in Budapest, Hungary. While Chelsea will take on Atletico Madrid in Bucharest, Romania.
