Julian Brandt (3.5/10)

Brandt’s situation is quite odd. He has great skill and talent, but he seems to be lacking confidence at the moment. He’s not having a great time at on the pitch and struggling to make an impact. The game against Hoffenheim was no exception. He started off well, roaming around Erling Haaland looking for spaces and opportunities. Eventually, he faded away, being replaced by Youssoufa Moukoko after 60 minutes.

Jadon Sancho (6/10)

On the other side of the coin, we saw a highly motivated and active Jadon Sancho in the first half. He looked sharp and determined to make an impact and was the only Dortmund forward showing any movement when not in possession. The 20 year old was often the creative spark going forward and opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a well taken finish. As the game progressed, the entire team’s performance went down, including Sancho’s.

Gio Reyna (3.5/10)

Much like Brandt, Reyna had a difficult time on the pitch. The 18 year old failed to create an impact up front before being subbed off. He showed a few flashes of his pace, but his decision making in the final third made for frustrating viewing. Reyna is really struggling at the moment, and it might be time to take him out of the firing line for the next few games.

Erling Haaland (6/10)

Haaland had the very first chance of the game after 11 minutes. Guerreiro set him up but the Norwegian international failed to beat Baumann. A few minutes later, he finally scored but the goal was ruled out for offside. Chances for the striker were few and far between until the 81st minute, when he finally got in the scoresheet, taking advantage of a sloppy piece of defending from Hoffenheim.
