Borussia Dortmund to receive another €5 million from Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele

Borussia Dortmund are due to receive another bonus payment from FC Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele, after the forward made his 100th competitive appearance for the club in the 5-1 win against Deportivo Alaves on Saturday. The Spanish giants will now have to pay another five million euros to the Black and Yellows.

Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for a fee of 105 million euros (rising up to 148 million euros through various add-ons and performance related bonuses).

Barcelona have already paid the majority of the bonuses which were part of the French forward’s transfer. Kicker report that with the latest bonus payment now due, der BVB will have received around 140 million euros for the transfer of Dembele.

Borussia Dortmund were due payments of five million euros each for Dembele’s 25th, 50th, 75th and 100th appearances for Barcelona. They would get another bonus payment if Barcelona were to win the UEFA Champions League. But the chances of it happening this season are rather slim, with Ronald Koeman’s side facing a tough test against Paris St. Germain in the round of 16.

Dembele has a total of 25 goals and 20 assists to his name in 100 appearances across all competitions for Barcelona. His time at Camp Nou has been blighted by injuries, but he is finally finding a bit of form this season. The 23 year old has just under 18 months left on his current contract with the club.

Barcelona, who are currently facing a financial crisis, will certainly not relish the prospect of sending another bonus payment to Borussia Dortmund.
