Erling Haaland wants his teammates to stick to head coach Edin Terzic’s match plans in matches as they look to arrest their recent poor run of form. One win in six Bundesliga matches has seen the Black and Yellows drop to sixth place in the league standings. And they now face a very real prospect of not being able to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Speaking to Sky Germany about Borussia Dortmund’s poor start to the second half of the season, Haaland said:

"“We just have to try to stick to the match plan we get before the game and follow it. We get this plan because the coach believes that with this plan we can win against the team we are up against. We just have to stick to it and try to put in the performance.”“I have been in situations like this before. It’s not easy. But I try not to think about it too much. It’s difficult when we lose again, and you feel like everything is going against you. Then it’s about trying to reset everything to zero and bring new positive energy into the team as quickly as possible.”"

Erling Haaland “100 percent convinced” Borussia Dortmund will return to their best this season

Borussia Dortmund find themselves six points behind fourth placed Wolfsburg at the moment, with 13 games to go in the Bundesliga season. There is still plenty of time to turn things around and qualify for the Champions League, and Haaland is confident that they will achieve their goals come the end of the season.

"“The Champions League is simply the most exciting competition. For me, it is something very special that I get to play Champions League. I have the expectation of myself that we qualify every year.”“We are on the road to improvement. I am 100 percent convinced that we will see that before the end of the season.”"

Haaland also spoke about Borussia Dortmund upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash against Sevilla. The 20 year old warned that if they continue to play like they have in recent weeks, they will stand no chance of beating the Spanish side in the two-legged tie.

"“Sevilla is a strong team that has won the Europa League several times. We just need to regain our form and bring our best performance on the pitch to have a chance. If we play like we have in the last few games, we don’t stand a chance.”"
