Previous Meeting: Sevilla 2-2 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla have faced each other just twice previously, in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League group stage. Sevilla earned a 1-0 win at the Signal Iduna Park, and the two sides then played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in Spain on Matchday 06.

With Borussia Dortmund needing a win to qualify for the knockout rounds, Shinji Kagawa opened the scoring in just the fourth minute. But goals from Romaric and Frédéric Kanouté helped Sevilla turn the game around in the first half.

Neven Subotic equalised for the Black and Yellows in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to prevent them from getting eliminated in the Europa League group stage. Of course, Dortmund went on to win the Bundesliga title in the 2010/11 season.
