Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Marco Rose will become the club’s new permanent head coach next season. And according to WAZ (subscription required), the BVB bosses also want Edin Terzic to stay on as part of Marco Rose’s coaching team. The 38 year old, who is currently the Black and Yellows’ interim head coach, has won six of his 12 games in charge across all competitions so far.
Terzic has earned praise from both Sebastian Kehl and Michael Zorc for the work he has done on the training ground since taking over as head coach. He is also well liked among the players, WAZ add.
Terzic began his coaching career as a scout and youth team assistant coach for Borussia Dortmund in 2010. He then worked as an assistant coach for Slaven Bilic at Besiktas and West Ham United, before returning to Dortmund in 2018 to work under Lucien Favre.
According to Sport1, Terzic has already turned down several offers from Bundesliga clubs to become a head coach in the past. Most notably, Fortuna Düsseldorf wanted to appoint him as head coach when Friedhelm Funkel was sacked in 2020.
At the moment, it remains to be seen whether Terzic would be open to working as an assistant coach at Borussia Dortmund again.
Marco Rose will join Borussia Dortmund on a three year deal in the summer, with Der BVB paying Borussia Mönchengladbach a fee of five million euros for his signature. The 44 year old is expected to bring in Alexander Zickler, René Maric and Patrick Eibenberger as part of his coaching staff to Borussia Dortmund. The trio have worked along with Rose at both RB Salzburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
