Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat Sevilla 3-2 in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie. Goals from Mahmoud Dahoud and Erling Haaland (x2) gave the Black and Yellows a vital come from behind win after Suso had given the home side the early lead. But Luuk de Jong’s late strike means that the tie is still very much in the balance ahead of next month’s second leg in Dortmund.

It was an excellent away performance from Borussia Dortmund, who caused Sevilla a lot of problems with their devastating counter-attacking play in the first half. They then defended with great resolve in the second half, but were undone thanks to poor marking on a late set-piece.

Nonetheless, it is a good result for Edin Terzic’s side, who desperately needed a win like this. Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their win over Sevilla.

Marwin Hitz (6/10)

Marwin Hitz was a bit unlucky with Suso’s opener, as it deflected off of Mats Hummels, leaving him with no chance. He was then lucky when Óscar Rodríguez’ free-kick struck the post, hit his hand and did not go into the net. The Swiss shot-stopper also stood no chance with de Jong’s late goal. Other than that, he did not have much to do as Sevilla rarely troubled the Dortmund goal.
