Thomas Delaney (6/10)

Delaney performed his defensive duties with great discipline and control, as he so often does. He wasn’t heavily tested by the Schalke attacking midfielders, except at the start of the second half. The Dane’s forward passing did leave a lot to be desired, even though he managed to complete 90.6% of his passes.

Mahmoud Dahoud (7.5/10)

Dahoud built on his excellent performance against Sevilla with another good game in the heart of the Borussia Dortmund midfield. His ability to find the forward pass and move the ball up quickly was visible right from the start. And he absolutely dominated the midfield battle. From conquering balls high up the pitch to driving the game forward, Dahoud was everywhere.

Julian Brandt (5/10)

Brandt’s rough season continued with another ordinary performance against Schalke. He worked hard for the team, but seemed to be lacking that cutting edge in the final third. He was then the first player to be taken off by Edin Terzic, with Jude Bellingham replacing him.
