Erling Haaland scores stunning volley as Borussia Dortmund sink rivals Schalke

Erling Haaland scored a brace as Borussia Dortmund cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over Schalke 04 to keep pace with the Bundesliga top four. Jadon Sancho and Raphael Guerreiro also got on the score-sheet as the Black and Yellows enjoyed an utterly dominant win to take home the Revierderby bragging rights.
Borussia Dortmund were in control of the game from the first whistle to the last, and Schalke never really looked like causing them any problems. Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland, Marco Reus and Mahmoud Dahoud all forced saves from Ralf Fährmann, before he had to go off with an injury.
But there was to be no stopping Borussia Dortmund, and their onslaught finally paid off in the 42nd minute. The opening goal arrived through Jadon Sancho after some good work by Mateu Morey to win back the ball. The Englishman fired home from 16 yards out to make it 1-0, before celebrating by tapping the Borussia Dortmund badge on his shirt.

One back two very quickly, as Erling Haaland joined the party with a simply sensational scissor kick. The Norwegian international left the goalkeeper with absolutely no chance, as he took flight and thundered the ball into the corner of the net with an exceptional volley.
Schalke came out strong after the break and had a couple of decent opportunities to claw their way back into the game. But Marwin Hitz stood firm to keep his clean sheet intact.
Borussia Dortmund then went down the other end and Raphael Guerreiro put the game to bed after a lovely one-two with Marco Reus. It was the Portuguese international’s 14th goal involvement of the season from left-back
Erling Haaland then put the icing on the cake by tapping home the fourth after a brilliant low cross from Jude Bellingham. The goal helped Haaland make it 43 goals in just 43 appearances across all competitions For Borussia Dortmund. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
It was an excellent performance from Borussia Dortmund that helped them keep pace with their top four rivals Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. For Schalke, the situation looks grim. They are rooted to the bottom of the table, eight points behind Mainz, who are in 17th place. And unless they can pull off a miracle, there will not be a Revierderby in the Bundesliga next season.
