Manchester United ‘cool interest’ in Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho
Manchester United have reportedly cooled their interest in signing Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho, with the English Premier League side now focussing on signing a new centre-back and a striker. The 20 year old has been heavily linked with a move to United over the last 12 months. But the Athletic’s David Ornstein now claims that they have paused their bid for him.
Ornstein adds that United continue to retain an interest in signing Sancho, and could still make an approach for him if the right deal arises. But the persistent rise of Mason Greenwood has led to a change in United’s stance.
It will be interesting to see what the future looks like beyond the end of the season for Jadon Sancho. The forward was a transfer target for Manchester United last summer as well. But a move never even came close to fruition, as United failed to meet the transfer demands set by the Borussia Dortmund bosses.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season, Sancho is now likely to leave Dortmund this summer. Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the England international in recent months.
Sancho has been in excellent form since the turn of the year, and has a total of ten goals and 15 assists to his name in 29 appearances across all competitions this season. He has also worn the captain’s armband on a couple of occasions, most recently in the closing stages of Borussia Dortmund’s derby win over Schalke on Saturday.
