Borussia Dortmund player ratings vs Arminia Bielefeld: Jadon Sancho leads BVB to dominant win
By Tushar Bahl
Gio Reyna (5/10)
Reyna missed an early half-chance and then gave the ball away too cheaply soon after, allowing Ritsu Doan to have a shot at goal. That really set the tone for what was another frustrating afternoon for the youngster. He had a golden chance to open the scoring in the first half, but hit the side netting from close range.
He must have thought his barren run was over in the second half, when he tapped the ball into the net. But the referee had already blown the whistle to award Borussia Dortmund a penalty, and his goal did not count. There were moments of promise in Reyna’s performance, but that lack of confidence is really hurting him at the moment.
Marco Reus (7/10)
Reus looked lively once again and won the penalty for Borussia Dortmund, which Sancho converted to make it 2-0. He also hit the crossbar and forced a fine headed save from Ortega.
Jadon Sancho (9/10)
Sancho ran the show for Borussia Dortmund and caused all sorts of problems to the Arminia Bielefeld defenders. He was involved in all three goals, setting up the opener, scoring the second, and playing the penultimate pass for the third. Make that six goals and six assists in the Bundesliga since the turn of the year for the Englishman.
Erling Haaland (6.5/10)
Haaland was left frustrated for the majority of the game, but still managed to come away with an assist for Renier’s goal. On another day, he could have had at least two goals. But Ortega stood firm to deny him time and time again.
