Borussia Dortmund: Jadon Sancho breaks Bundesliga assists record

Jadon Sancho continued his stunning run of form on Saturday by getting a goal and an assist (and also a pre-assist) during Borussia Dortmund’s dominant 3-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld. The assist for Mahmoud Dahoud’s opener helped the England international set a new Bundesliga record. Here are some of the facts, stats and records from the game.
- A half-century of assists: Jadon Sancho’s assist for Mahmoud Dahoud’s opener brought up the 20 year old’s 50th assist in the Bundesliga. He is the youngest player in Bundesliga history to get to the mark, and also the quickest, having reached the feat in just 99 appearances.
- Unbeaten when Sancho scores: Jadon Sancho’s penalty against Arminia Bielefeld helped him make it 36 Bundesliga goals for Borussia Dortmund. The Black and Yellows haven’t tasted a single defeat in the 31 Bundesliga games he has scored in, winning 25 and drawing six of those games.
- In-form Dahoud: After going 906 days without a goal, Mahmoud Dahoud has now scored twice in the space of just ten days for Borussia Dortmund. It was his first Bundesliga goal in more than two years, helping him continue his excellent form.
- A landmark moment: Gio Reyna returned to the Borussia Dortmund starting XI on Saturday for what was his 50th competitive appearance in a Black and Yellow shirt. The USMNT international has five goals and eight assists to his name.
- Immediate impact: Reinier Jesus needed just 28 seconds to make an impact on the game, with the young Brazilian scoring immediately after coming on. It was his first ever goal for Borussia Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund also continued their excellent record in second halves of games, scoring all three of their goals against Arminia Bielefeld after the restart. 37 of the 48 goals Der BVB have scored in the Bundesliga this season have come in the second half.
