Borussia Dortmund player ratings vs Bayern Munich: Erling Haaland brace in vain
By Tushar Bahl
Erling Haaland’s brace was not enough as Bayern Munich came from two goals down to beat Borussia Dortmund 4-2. The Black and Yellows raced to a two goal lead inside the first ten minutes, with Haaland scoring both goals. Bayern then began to dominate proceedings and Lewandowski scored a brace to bring them level going into the break.
Borussia Dortmund were handed a big injury blow in the second half, with Haaland having to go off after a nasty challenge on him from Jerome Boateng.
But just when it looked like Dortmund would hang on for a point, the Bavarians scored two late goals to seal a 4-2 win. The game wasn’t without controversy though, as Marco Reus was denied what looked like a clear penalty in the second half. And Emre Can was fouled in the build up to Bayern’s third goal. But the referee decided to keep the play moving.
It was a spirited performance by Borussia Dortmund, but they just fell short in the end. Here are our player ratings for the BVB players from the game.
Marwin Hitz (5/10)
Hitz will feel that he dived a tad too quickly before the penalty, but other than that he did not stand any chance of saving the four goals. He had a few good moments over the course of the game, but also made a clanger in the second half which Bayern luckily weren’t able to take advantage of.
